Precision Control & Advanced Cam Design
The D5Y, exclusively designed for Yates by ISC, utilizes a high-performance double-stop mechanism with extremely durable internal wear components built for long service life.
The D5Y allows operators to descend slowly with precision or move at faster speeds when needed. The D5Y enables a quicker descent than a Petzl ID while maintaining smooth modulation and control.
Built-In Safety
The D5Y includes an integrated anti-panic function that automatically engages if the handle is pulled too aggressively, helping ensure ANSI/OSHA compliance (D4) and enhanced user safety across applications.
With a 240 kg (500 lb) working load limit, the D5Y descender is rated for two-person rescue without requiring additional friction (such as adding a redirect carabiner).
Durable, Ergonomic Construction
The D5Y features aluminum handles, not plastic, for superior strength and durability. The handles rotate a full 360°, making operation easier in varied working positions. Audible click stops provide tactile and audible feedback to help users confidently identify correct handle positioning.
The D5Y includes an updated ergonomic handle position set approximately 25° back from the original prototype, creating a more natural operating angle and improved user comfort.
Secure & Glove-Friendly Operation
The D5Y opens via a push-button mechanism that is easy to operate even while wearing gloves. The button is intentionally difficult to open under load, reducing the risk of accidental opening. An audible click confirms when the device is securely closed.
